Amazing. So much like what happened in Iran after the revolution. Also has some comments on where people are sexually and politically going in the west. She is talking about an imaginary regime in the future, so in referring to the past she has this nicely worded sentence: "... Though at that time (refering to now) men and women tried each other on, casually, like suits, rejecting whatever did not fit." Just like how things are now in the west! Or in another part talking of the way women were clothed in that imaginary theocracy called "Gilead", using the phrase: "seeing the world in gasps"; ( because they had some white hats on which limited their visions and was there, so that they are not seen by the strangers...) It reminds me of women with "Chador" (an islamic big black piece of cloth worn over the head and around the body) in Iran; those who cover their eyes and face, so that only their nose is out, I can imagin how "they" would "see the world in gasps"!!! I'll add more as I read more.
a great resource.
