Marge Piercy'yi ve kedileri seviyorum. Marge Piercy kedileri seviyor aslında ... iyi .... çok daha iyi olamaz.

[Sontag'ın denizkızı versiyonuna göz atın (Tiyatro, 29: 1, 1999)]

İlgi çekici. Yoğun. (biraz da) Buharlı. İyi yazılmış. Rahatsız edici. Yutmayacağınız bir kitap.

şimdiye kadarki en iyi baldwin romanı & ayrıca şarkının geldiği şarkıyı dinlemek zorundasınız, "beale street blues." louis armstrong bunun iyi bir versiyonunu yapıyor.

The point of travel is for dimwitted assholes with expendable wealth to deplete the world's natural resources, force international cities to open up as many bars as there are travelers, laugh at how 'ridiculous' the native population is, express indignation, shock, and horror at the lack of English spoken, spend every night talking to other English travelers, compare an entire population of people to Borat and then vigorously defend the movie on the grounds that at least the movie has brought in a great deal of tourism into Kazakhstan, as if the people of Kazakhstan need more tourists whose parents have incomes higher than ten to fifteen times higher than its per capita GDP to laugh at them, and confirm all suspicions that yes, tourism is the modern incarnation of imperialism, and yes, you best believe that, son, and if you need a roadmap to get to the modern world's most sinister and subtle form of oppression, then here you go, take this book, eat it for breakfast and wipe your shit with it too. On the flipside, this did help me find a train from Split to Zagreb that was nicer than the time I flew first class standby on Northwest Airlines to Shanghai. Holla.

I must admit-- trudging through all the scientific and nutritional information/facts was a bit trying at times. I don't really have a mind for science, nor do I tend to strictly follow a very methodical reasoning process. However, despite this, I found Pollan's book to be eye-opening. I've always been conscious of what I eat (or so I thought), but he brought my awareness to a newer-- and richer-- level of understanding. Swiftly, his books are becoming my Bible when it comes to designing my food-lifestyle. In Defense of Food is forthwith in its main purpose/assertion: Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. Yet, just a simple doctrine is more complex than one realizes in today's western culture. In Defense of Food helps you realize this, and brings you back to simplicity.
