The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan is a longer book then I would usually read, stretching out over 500 pages it never seemed to bore me. Unlike other books I have read the plot never really slowed down. It seemed like there was action on every page. It never seemed to stop. I usually like reading nonfiction books because I always learn something but this was a good change because even though its fantasy, you still get to learn about ancient Egyptian culture. Sadie and Carter are two kids whose father is killed by the ancient Egyptian god Set. After the kids witness their father die, they set out to avenge their father. Their journey consists of magic, hardships and surprises. My favorite part of the book is when Sadie and Carter discover their powers and defeat the Serpent. The author does a good job of portraying the characters and making you feel like you’ve actually met the characters. I would recommend this book to action and fantasy readers.
